We’ve highlighted a fair number of indie rock-types here AND we’ve shown off some potentially unknown bluegrass talent, but we’re going back to the string band well . . . and look what we’ve found.
Trampled by Turtles is a Duluth, Minnesota-based five piece band that might be more accurately described as “slamgrass.” They play fast . . . so fast that I thought at any moment the syncopation might just combust into a mess of flailing strings and screeches. Somehow, it doesn’t . . . and then I’m just left impressed.
Trampled by Turtles (let’s all pause and nod to the name) isn’t brand new. They released their first album in 2004 and have a few more after that. However their first LP to chart was April’s release of Palomino (went to #1 on Billboard’s US Bluegrass Chart).
