The new music for this week left a little to be desired and I’m having difficulty finding enough for an entire post. When the future of music isn’t obvious in the front, we think it’s a good idea to look behind. That’s exactly what we did. Good things.
July 21st, 1969. The Beatles start working on Side 1, Track 1 of Abbey Road. The bass line sings from the word go . . . or from the words “Shoot me,” which Mr. Lennon politely (and repeatedly) requests from Sir Paul. He does and a classic was recorded. Sure, there was some reported in-fighting at the time, but this was the greatest rock band ever recording new material in 1969 . . . it kinda comes with the territory.
Forty-one years later, we’re still talking about it. Here come ol’ flattop.
