Forget Ladies Night, it’s apparently Ladies Week at INLE. It began harmlessly . . . quite unintentional, but it’s become a trend the last few days with a few female-led bands highlighted yesterday AND this little nugget we were reminded about for our Lost category. It’s a timely reminder as Lauryn Hill has been widely rumored to have new work recorded, a possible new album release and a whole heaping pile of “not sure” and “speculation” about all of it.
We’re not sure how you felt about this album at the time. I loved it . . . even when people told me she didn’t want me to listen to it. And good thing . . . because that preposturous claim wasn’t actually true.
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill had two hidden tracks (this one and Tell Him). The first was so popular Columbia Records decided to put it on that little song-sticker-thing that used to come on CDs . . . ya know, back in the day when people bought CDs. What the fuck is a “liner note?” Anyway . . . the song was also nominated for a Grammy. That’s pretty impressive for a hidden track. Our latest edition of Lost with a little Stealing the Covers flavor. Lauryn Hill’s first hidden track on The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, covering Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You by Frankie Valli.
