Hip-Hop Math: Jay-Z, Brooklyn’s Finest

Oooooh.  Brooklyn’s Finest. Man. I f’n love this song. It’s not so much a classic in the “hey, I remember this single,” but the sample’s mean and the math is special.  For that, we’re going to break it down.

Jay-Z released Reasonable Doubt in 1996 and at the time, despite the incredible-ness of that album, no one could have known how far he’d go in 15 years. We’re going back to the younger days and Notorious BIG has come along as well. Sharpen your pencils. This one’s a killer.
